Reference Material#

Welcome to Snowflake’s curated and maintained documentation source for DCS World’s Simulator Scripting Engine (SSE). DCS World runs three separate, sandboxed Lua environments (“virtual machines”), each with their own API subset of exposed functions. This documentation is intended to provide users with comprehensive information, guides, and references to effectively utilise the SSE for their simulation scripting needs.

Coloquially referred to as the “Lua API”, the SSE provides a robust set of functions and features that allow users to create complex scripts and scenarios within the DCS World environment. The SSE exists in a sandboxed environment, ensuring that scripts run securely and efficiently without compromising the integrity of the simulation.

This documentation is not to be confused with DCS World modding, which is mostly covered by Caffeine Simulations.
